Doja Cat just dropped some 80’s styled realness.
Doja Cat just dropped her latest single, “Jealous Type,” from her upcoming album Vie. The track oozes retro flavor, leaning heavily into an ’80s-inspired sound filled with funky synths and a danceable, throwback beat. From the very first notes, it’s impossible not to want to move along.
Lyrically, “Jealous Type” is exactly what its title suggests, but with a layered twist. Doja admits she’s the kind of person who could easily get jealous in a relationship—but instead of leaning into it, she avoids the situation altogether. She doesn’t want to ask where this man is, who he’s with, or what he’s doing. She’s never fully locked in because she knows the truth: he’s a player, and her jealousy would only end up making her look and feel bad. Rather than fall into the trap of tracking his moves, she’d rather step back, wait until he’s serious, or simply find someone new.
The balance of vulnerability and empowerment makes this track stand out. It’s relatable, catchy, and full of attitude—the kind of song only Doja can pull off. Overall, “Jealous Type” passes the vibe check, and it’s bound to be another hit for her catalog.
