5. In Cold Blood
Rock music is still so alive.
I find “In Cold Blood” relatable in a slightly angsty way. It’s one of the most guitar-heavy songs on the album, which I really appreciate. The track explores giving up as a way of “killing” a relationship. This is the perfect song to headbang to, especially during that intense bridge. I absolutely love that it keeps the rock spirit alive.
4. Apologies
Finally, a song that’s honest about not being saved.
“Apologies” is a really strong track. I love the energy of the pre-chorus and how upbeat it feels, despite the darker themes of substance abuse and regret. Three Days Grace has always tackled mental struggles and addiction, so this song stays true to that legacy. Personally, it resonates deeply with me, which may bias my view—but I think “Apologies” is relatable for anyone trying to overcome addictions or mental health struggles for someone they love, only to realize it’s not that simple. That emotional honesty makes this a 10/10 for me.
3. The Power
Nothing feels better than taking back “The Power.”
“The Power” is such a banger. You can’t help but move—tap your foot, dance, or nod your head along. The vocals complement each other perfectly, and the dynamic mix of guitar, bass, and drums keeps it engaging from start to finish. Even though the song explores heartbreak and the challenges of reclaiming ‘The Power’ after a relationship ends, it radiates such infectious, feel-good energy.
2. Kill Me Fast
“Kill Me Fast” is such a painful request.
From the very first listen, I was hooked on “Kill Me Fast.” This song has the potential to hit mainstream radio while staying true to its rock roots. It perfectly blends both vocalists’ talents, which I really enjoy. Starting slow, it builds a unique and compelling vibe. As a heartfelt track about heartbreak, “Kill Me Fast” is a desperate plea for a lover to break away, knowing they won’t return.
1. Mayday
The first single from ‘Alienation‘ marks the start of a bold new era.
I can’t say it enough—welcome back, Adam! “Mayday” is the first single from Alienation and marks the band’s first release since Adam’s return. As a longtime fan, you can only imagine how hyped I was listening to this one. “Mayday” captures the despair of everyday life while also showing the resilience needed to push through and survive. I’ve really missed Adam’s influence on the band—his strong vocals, emotional depth, and clever yet deeply cutting lyricism are all back in full force.

Everyone knows Three Days Grace and their mega-successful singles from the early 2000s: “I Hate Everything About You,” “Animal I Have Become,” “Riot,” and countless others. Their eighth studio album, Alienation, comes with an exciting twist—original lead singer Adam Gontier returns, now sharing the spotlight with Matt Walst, who has led the band since Adam’s departure.
The reunion isn’t just a nostalgic move; the band proves they haven’t missed a beat. With Alienation, Three Days Grace delivers what I believe is their strongest work since 2012. While the albums in between were still excellent, there’s something undeniable about the chemistry of Adam and the rest of the band together again.
Musically, the album showcases why Three Days Grace remains a force in rock. Their signature blend of emotional intensity, melodic hooks, and raw energy is as compelling as ever. The combination of Adam’s vocals with Matt’s adds a new dynamic while honoring the band’s classic sound.
Alienation is a powerful reminder that some bands are meant to be together. For longtime fans and new listeners alike, this album cements Three Days Grace’s legacy as one of the most consistent and influential rock groups of the past two decades.
