TOP 5 SONGS

5. Aftermath (Edit)

Could this be the “Aftermath” of his relationships?

“Aftermath” leans slightly upbeat while still keeping a laid-back, chill vibe. The beat carries that signature Dominic Fike energy—airy and nomadic, like you’re floating from one place to the next. Even though it’s a short track, it manages to pack in plenty of emotion, showing Fike wrestling with the past—laughing, crying, and reflecting on the pain of his tendency to walk away. It’s a fleeting song, but one that leaves a lasting impression.

4. David Lyons

“David Lyons?” As in… the actor?

“David Lyons” might be one of the more laid-back tracks in my Top 5, but it carries some of the heaviest emotional weight. The lyrics tell the story of a partner who was already broken before him, while also revealing the red flags, warning signs, and flaws he brought into the relationship himself. What really makes the song stand out is its raw honesty and lyrical depth—it feels vulnerable, reflective, and unfiltered. The bass line paired with Dominic’s vocals adds a bluesy undertone, awakening an entirely different side of his artistry.

3. $500 Fine

Just a small mention of fatherhood between the reflections of the past.

$500 Fine” is one of the more fun tracks on Rocket, but beneath its playful surface lies a layer of reflection and longing. Dominic looks back on his mistakes—regretting the times he messed up and wasn’t there for his partner. What makes the track shine is the contrast between its light, breezy production and vocals, and the weight of its lyrics. That balance makes the song feel both fun and introspective, hopeful yet tinged with regret.

2. Upset & Aggressive

Finally, some respect for Dominic Fike’s rapping side.

I love the sound of this track—it carries a carefree indie, almost hippie vibe that feels infectious from the very first listen. The bass, beat, and layered backing vocals/chanting give it a playful, vibrant energy. What makes it stand out even more is that it’s one of the rare moments on the album where Dominic Fike picks up the pace and leans into his rapping. That shift adds a fresh spark to the project and showcases another side of his artistry.

1. Sandman

Even the “Sandman” not wanting your dreams is crazy, Dom.

“Sandman” is easily my favorite track on the album. It’s an absolute hype song that’s perfect for dancing—pure vibes from start to finish. Dominic cleverly weaves in fairytale and folkloric references, which really elevate the track. Between the Sandman not wanting to send him to sleep and the Alice in Wonderland-inspired imagery—staying awake, spiraling down the rabbit hole, and channeling the cryptic, mischievous Cheshire Cat—this song is endlessly intriguing and fun to listen to.
