Streaming numbers don’t lie—rap fans made their favorites clear this past August.
Streaming platforms continue to serve as the heartbeat of hip-hop’s global reach, and August was no different. Drake once again reigned supreme, racking up an incredible 1.57 billion Spotify streams across all credits. This marks his sixth straight month at No. 1, cementing his place as one of the most consistently streamed artists in the world.
Behind him, Travis Scott landed in second with 827 million streams, boosted by the success of his Cactus Jack collaboration album JACKBOYS 2. Kendrick Lamar followed closely with 731 million, powered by timeless hits like “luther” and “All The Stars.” Future (655m) and Kanye West (631m) rounded out the top five—two veterans with more than 15 years of influence still commanding massive attention.
Legends like Eminem (571m) and Lil Wayne (479m) continued to hold their ground, while Tyler, The Creator (549m) and Playboi Carti (426m) showcased the younger generation’s experimental edge. Doja Cat, Nicki Minaj, and Juice WRLD also made strong appearances, proving versatility and crossover appeal remain key drivers of streaming success.
With veterans and innovators sharing space on the same leaderboard, one question lingers: which artist surprised you most from this list?
