The Weeknd Drops New Single “Closing Night” Ahead of European Tour

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

The Weeknd just gave fans a new reason to celebrate: “Closing Night” arrives alongside the announcement of his European After Hours Til Dawn tour dates.

While everyone else was busy beefing, setting fantasy lineups, or catching strays from Young Thug’s jail calls, The Weeknd quietly reminded us why he’s one of the biggest artists on the planet. Fresh off one of the most successful North American tours ever with After Hours Til Dawn, he’s now announced the European leg of the tour—and dropped a brand new single, “Closing Night,” to mark the moment.

“Closing Night” is fueled by one of the most exhilarating instrumentals of the year. It shifts between grandiose, cinematic swells and pulsating dance-floor energy, with synths stacked high enough to touch the stratosphere. Honestly, it sounds like it could score a Japanese Sonic the Hedgehog promo—and I mean that as a compliment.

Over this electrifying backdrop, The Weeknd delivers some of his boldest, most dramatic vocals yet. Lyrically, he tackles a toxic relationship, confronting a woman he feels he’s unfairly blamed for corrupting. Maybe, it was always written in her DNA to be bad. His performance brims with frustration, defiance, and the kind of passion that makes every word land.

The synergy between the production and his delivery is nothing short of stunning, with a chorus that feels destined to echo in arenas worldwide. “Closing Night” is a tour anthem in the making.
