Speculation over a new Jay-Z album is heating up after rapper Cash hinted at big news and Memphis Bleek revealed Jay personally called him to address the rumors.
On September 3, New York City rapper-producer Cash appeared on Billboard Unfiltered, where he stirred up significant speculation about one of hip-hop’s greatest icons. During a debate about the kings and queens of New York rap, Cash casually dropped a bombshell: “I heard Jay-Z ’bout to drop some sh*t that’s gon’ shake the world.” Naturally, that statement set the internet ablaze.
The rumor caught the attention of Memphis Bleek, one of Hov’s closest collaborators and friends. On his own podcast, Bleek revealed that Jay-Z personally called him after hearing the chatter. According to Bleek, the Roc Nation mogul wanted to know if Young Guru—Jay’s longtime engineer—had leaked anything. Bleek laughed it off, responding, “Chill, let’s just call it wishful thinking.”
It’s been nearly a decade since Jay-Z released his last studio album, 4:44, in 2017. Widely considered one of his best works, the project featured Beyoncé, Frank Ocean, Damian Marley, and production from No I.D. It was a deeply personal and socially conscious album, praised for its maturity and vulnerability.
Whether Cash’s comments hold any weight or not, one thing’s for sure: the world is more than ready for a new Jay-Z project. If Hov does return, it won’t just be music—it’ll be a cultural event.
Bleek later revealed on his own podcast that Jay called him to question him about where he got the info from.
