Is Drake’s only competition Taylor Swift?
Drake has officially become the first artist in Spotify history to surpass 120 billion streams across all credits. Seeing these numbers makes you realize how pervasive his music has been over the past decade. From massive hits like “One Dance” to more subtle tracks like “Passionfruit,” he has a catalog that keeps generating streams at a staggering rate.
I’ve always been curious about what drives an artist to reach this kind of dominance. While “Views” certainly pushed him into mainstream superstardom, later projects like Her Loss and For All The Dogs continue to pull huge numbers. Tracks like “Rich Flex,” “Spin Bout U,” “Rich Baby Daddy,” and “IDGAF” have all contributed to the accumulation of streams.
It’s hard to separate the hype from the numbers here. Drake’s presence on playlists, features with other big artists, and consistent output all play into this achievement. Even if you aren’t a die-hard fan, the scale of his streaming footprint is undeniable.
At this point, the milestone feels less like a surprise and more like an inevitability. Whether or not you consider him the “greatest of all time,” the impact of his work on streaming culture is undeniable.
