A$AP Rocky cites “life” and family priorities for the postponed release of DON’T BE DUMB, saying he needed to focus on loved ones.
A$AP Rocky has shared the reasons behind the delay of his upcoming album DON’T BE DUMB. In a conversation with ELLE, the Harlem rapper explained that personal responsibilities and family life took precedence over studio time.
“I don’t want to primarily blame it on my case, but life was lifeing,” Rocky said, noting that unexpected changes affected his timeline. “We don’t plan on having children, but when it happens, you gotta adjust and move with it. I gotta be present for my family, because that’s first.”
The rapper has welcomed two children with Rihanna in recent years, which has shifted his priorities. While Rocky didn’t share a new release date, his comments underline a focus on family over deadlines.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting DON’T BE DUMB, which will be Rocky’s first full-length project since Testing in 2018. Despite the delay, his commitment to balancing music with fatherhood signals that the album will arrive when he feels ready—on his own terms.
