Kendrick Lamar’s “GNX” Becomes First Rap Album to Sell Over 2 Million Units in 2025

Kendrick Lamar continues to rack up the wins.

Kendrick Lamar continues to rack up wins, even though he hasn’t dropped much music this year. His latest album, GNX, just became the first rap album to sell over 2 million units in 2025, which is striking, given that it dropped in 2024. What’s even crazier is that GNX isn’t just topping the rap charts — it’s the fifth highest-selling album across all genres. Once again, this album came out in 2024.

A big part of this success can be traced back to his much-publicized feud with Drake, which lit up the internet earlier this year. The beef spawned “Not Like Us,” arguably Kendrick’s biggest single to date — a diss track so potent it doubled as a club anthem. Instead of letting that moment fade, Kendrick capitalized on the buzz, and the results speak for themselves.

Beyond the controversy, GNX stands strong on its own merit. The project boasts an impressive lineup of hits, including “tv off,” “peekaboo,” and the massive SZA-assisted single “luther,” which many predict will snag Song of the Year at the Grammys. The album even soundtracked Super Bowl LIX — a rare feat that only boosted its reach and cultural footprint.

At this point, the gap between dinner with Kendrick Lamar or $1,000,000 is closing in?
