Secret Rendezvous returns from a creative hiatus with “In Between Dreams” — a lush, soulful exploration of love, emotion, and self-discovery.
After taking some well-deserved time away, Secret Rendezvous makes a triumphant return with their latest release, In Between Dreams. The ten-track project comes from the creative duo of Sietske Morsch en Rami Lauw, who say the album was inspired by real nightly dreams that forced them to choose between family and music. The result is a body of work that feels both deeply personal and musically expansive — a balance between reality and the ethereal space of their imagination.
The album opens with its title track, easing listeners into a hypnotic soundscape filled with warm synths, soothing vocals, and a dreamlike atmosphere. Lyrically, it centers around finding solace in that one person who brings comfort and clarity, setting the emotional tone for the rest of the project. From there, “Feels So Good (Don’t It)” lights things up with an irresistible bounce — a summer-ready jam that glows with positivity and charm.
Throughout In Between Dreams, the duo explores a range of textures and tones. “Two Faced Lover” gives off a timeless vintage energy, “Crush” leans into a quirky, modern pop sensibility, and “Scandalous” brings the disco floor to life with bold lyrics and contagious energy. Meanwhile, “Sober” offers one of the most heartfelt performances on the project, highlighting the duo’s ability to slow things down while maintaining emotional depth.
It’s hard not to appreciate the organic feel of this album. Entirely self-produced by Secret Rendezvous, with contributions from their live band and mastering by Jeffrey de Gans, In Between Dreams is a testament to their artistry and vision. It’s a dreamy, soulful, and diverse record that captures love, self-reflection, and the delicate space between the real and the imagined.
