Drake Receives Six New Diamond Plaques on His Birthday

Drake is a living legend. We must do everything we can to appreciate him.

Drake’s 39th birthday turned into more than a celebration — it became a full-blown coronation. While most people unwrap presents, the 6 God unwrapped six new diamond plaques, officially extending his record as the rapper with the most RIAA diamond-certified singles in history. The new certifications bring his total to a staggering 16 diamond plaques, putting him miles ahead of his peers.

Here’s how the all-time leaderboard now stands:
16 – Drake
6 – Eminem
5 – Lil Wayne
3 – Nicki Minaj
3 – Jay-Z
3 – Cardi B

Among Drake’s new diamond awards are “The Motto,” “Passionfruit,” “Nice For What,” “Headlines,” “Nonstop,” and Take Care, his 2011 classic that just became his first-ever diamond album. That’s a monumental feat — Take Care is now the only rap album released in the past 20 years to go diamond, and the first since Eminem’s Curtain Call in 2005.

Each record symbolizes a different era of Drake’s dominance — from the introspective tone of Take Care to the swagger of “Headlines” and the island-infused “Passionfruit.” Whether lyrical or melodic, Drake’s catalog consistently shapes the sound of rap and pop alike. With 16 diamond plaques and counting, his reign is both a celebration and a challenge to the rest of the industry.
