Cam’ron Returns With Smooth Storytelling on “Bronx Coochie”

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.

Cam’ron should’ve had two cups of coffee before making this track.

Cam’ron may be more of a sports personality than a rapper these days, but his pen game is still elite. Whenever he decides to touch the mic, it’s a reminder of why he’s one of Harlem’s most charismatic figures in hip-hop history. His latest single, “Bronx Coochie,” is a perfect example of that — effortlessly smooth, clever, and vintage Cam.

“Bronx Coochie” plays like Cam’s gritty and humorous version of Jay-Z’s “Girls, Girls, Girls.” The track rides over a soulful, sample-heavy beat — the kind that instantly feels familiar but leaves you guessing its origin. Over it, Cam delivers his bars with his signature nonchalant energy and playful flow, telling stories of his encounters with women across New York City with a mix of charm and unapologetic bravado.

While the song doesn’t necessarily break new ground sonically, it thrives on Cam’s magnetic delivery and the nostalgic feel of early 2000s New York rap. I just feel like he sounds a bit too uninterested and tired in the track. You be the judge by listening to the track below.
