Nas and DJ Premier Announce Collaborative Album Dropping December 12

If you’re a true hip-hop fan, you better put your PTO in for December 12.

Nas continues to stack new chapters onto an already legendary career. During a recent show, DJ Premier revealed that the two have a full collaboration album dropping December 12. For hip-hop fans, this is the kind of dream pairing that almost never happens — two foundational architects of the culture coming together to remind the world what truly timeless rap sounds like.

It’s hard to overstate how strong Nas’ run has been over the last few years. His King’s Disease and Magic trilogies not only reintroduced him to a new generation but also solidified him as a consistent force well into his third decade in the game. His chemistry with Hit-Boy was undeniable — blending sharp lyricism, rich samples, and elevated production that somehow felt both modern and nostalgic. That creative momentum makes this new DJ Premier collaboration even more exciting.

Premier, of course, is no stranger to Nas’ world. The two crafted classics together on Illmatic, including “N.Y. State of Mind” and “Memory Lane,” which helped define the golden age of East Coast hip-hop.

If Nas’ recent projects are any indication, Nas x DJ Premier could be another chapter in his late-career renaissance. The combination of Premo’s dusty, boom-bap textures and Nas’ razor-sharp storytelling might just be what 2025 needs.
