These are the defining hip-hop events that made history today.
1. Future’s Birthday (November 20, 1983)

Future (born Nayvadius DeMun Cash), also known as Hendrix or Pluto, will undoubtedly go down as one of the top 10 rappers of this decade — and his work ethic is the biggest reason why. Since emerging in the late 2000s, he’s done nothing but deliver classic project after classic project, each one spawning its own set of unforgettable hits. You can’t replicate his voice (though Desiigner came close) or his signature toxic charisma, but there’s no denying that Future has shaped hip-hop in ways that will be remembered for generations.
2. Mike D’s Birthday (November 20, 1965)

Mike D, not Mike Dean, guys! Get it together!
Mike D is a founding member of the legendary hip-hop trio Beastie Boys — and honestly, what would the rap game be without them? With groundbreaking albums like Licensed to Ill and Hello Nasty, Mike D and his crew shattered expectations and opened the doors for white rappers to thrive in a genre many believed they couldn’t penetrate. Their impact wasn’t just cultural — it was foundational.
3. Snoop Dogg Released “Sensual Seduction” (November 20, 2007)

How many people actually know that “Sensual Seduction” isn’t even the real name of the track — and that its original title has a much darker, far more sinister edge?
If you were outside when Snoop Dogg dropped “Sensual Seduction,” you already know the impact. The moment it hit at a house party, chaos erupted in the best way possible — people lost their minds, suddenly found the courage to talk to that one girl with the hair, or just let the buzz take over. And remember, this wasn’t some up-and-coming experimental artist. This was Snoop Dogg — an OG of OGs — stepping into full-on crooner mode. The whole thing felt surreal, almost like watching a legend rewrite his own rules in real time. I will never forget “Sensual Seduction.”

Quincy is the creator of Ratings Game Music. He loves writing about music, taking long walks on beaches, and spaghetti that fights him back.
