Thank GOD Donald Glover is doing better.
At Camp Flog Gnaw, Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) took a rare moment to reflect on the health scare that forced him to cancel his last tour—revealing that the situation was far more serious than fans ever realized. Speaking candidly onstage, he shared that he suffered a stroke during a show in Louisiana.
“I had really bad pain in my head in Louisiana, and I did the show anyway,” he said. “I couldn’t really see well, so when we went to Houston, I went to the hospital, and the doctor was like, ‘You had a stroke.’ And the first thing I thought was, ‘Oh, here I am still copying Jamie Foxx.’ The second thing was, ‘I’m letting everybody down.’”
Gambino went on to explain that the stroke was only part of the ordeal. “I broke my foot… They found a hole in my heart… so I had this surgery, and then I had to have another surgery.”
He ended the moment with a message about perspective: “They say everybody has two lives and the second life starts when you realize you have one… You should be living your life how you want. If we have to do this again, it can only get better.”
Musically, Gambino’s last major appearance was his 2024 album Bando Stone and The New World, which featured Chlöe, Flo Milli, and Jorja Smith. In 2025, he’s been quiet—a familiar pattern for an artist who frequently takes long creative hiatuses. Still, fans were relieved to hear him in good spirits and recovering well.
