Rolling Stone ranks the Top 25 Rap Albums of 2025, featuring Clipse, Playboi Carti, Earl Sweatshirt, and Tyler, The Creator in a year of innovation and skill.
Rolling Stone’s roundup of the Top Rap Albums of 2025 demonstrates just how diverse and boundary-pushing hip-hop has become.
Topping the list is Clipse with Let God Sort ‘Em Out, a triumphant return that pairs razor-sharp lyricism with powerful production from Pharrell.
Playboi Carti’s MUSIC lands at #2, offering his signature experimental energy, while Earl Sweatshirt’s Live Love Laugh (#3) captures introspection layered over soulful, quirky beats.
The year also highlighted global talent and innovation. Jim Legxacy’s Black British Music (#4) showcases the UK rap scene, while Little Simz’s Lotus (#8) blends fierce wordplay with inventive production.
Experimental voices thrive as well: Billy Woods’ Golliwog (#5) and Mike’s SHOWBIZ! (#6) made low-key but well-deserved appearances. Tyler, The Creator closes the Top 10 with Don’t Tap The Glass, another example of his limitless creativity.
Other notable entries include Chance The Rapper’s Star Line (#11), Clipping’s Dead Channel Sky (#12), JID’s God Does Like Ugly (#13), Freddie Gibbs & The Alchemist’s Alfredo 2 (#15), and Cardi B’s Am I The Drama? (#24).
Classic acts like Slick Rick (#19) and Mobb Deep (#22) showed the world they still got it by making this list, while Drake & PARTYNEXTDOOR held it down for collaboration projects with $$$4U (#20) (Though I probably wouldn’t consider this a hip-hop album).
For anyone who thought hip-hop had a slow year, these standout albums prove the genre delivered some solid, memorable projects.
