Kenny Mason Stays in His Bag on “Pup Pack: 2nd Shift”

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Kenny Mason delivers another confident, bass-heavy three-track statement.

Kenny Mason returns with Pup Pack: 2nd Shift, a tight three-track EP that arrives just a month after Pup Pack: 1st Shift. Once again, he proves how deep his bag really is.

On “Diamonds,” Kenny floats through hypnotic, melodic rap pockets over a bass-heavy, mind-bending beat, reflecting on his rise from struggle to success, earning recognition, and rewarding loyalty while making it clear his shine can’t be edited or ignored.

“Gorgeous” is where the project truly peaks. Blending rock and rap with ease, the track pairs a dark, melancholic instrumental with choppy flows and vivid lyricism. Kenny paints a cinematic picture of street hustle, danger, desire, and luxury, finding beauty in chaos and opportunity in every moment. It’s easily the standout track on the EP.

Closing things out, “4” leans into a Playboi Carti-inspired soundscape filled with video game textures, heavy bass, and a punchy trap tempo. Kenny attacks the beat with a relentless flow, cool confidence, and nonchalant delivery, balancing gritty street realism with ambition and inner conflict.

All in all, Pup Pack: 2nd Shift may be short, but it’s another sharp reminder of Kenny Mason’s versatility and fearless creative range.
