French Montana & Max B Waste No Time Reclaiming New York With “Whippin That Wave”

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Fresh home, full throttle — Max B and French sound locked in and unapologetic.

Right now, French Montana and Max B are clearly making up for lost time. After spending several years behind bars, Max B is finally home, and he’s moving with urgency. Just days ago, he dropped a massive project titled Public Domain 7: The Purge, and instead of slowing down, he’s already lining up the next move. That next chapter happens to be a long-awaited joint project with French Montana.

To get things rolling, the two have released a new single called “Whippin That Wave.” From the jump, the track feels like classic New York rap at its best. The production is hard-hitting and cinematic, built with that gritty, cold energy that immediately sets the tone.

French Montana handles the hook with a cool-ass flip of Jill Scott’s chorus on “Daydream,” giving the song a surprisingly smooth edge without softening it up. Max B and French trade gritty bars about whipping drugs, making boss moves, and living life in luxury — themes they’ve always thrived in.

At under two minutes, calling “Whippin That Wave” a teaser is an understatement. Nonetheless, the s**t is definitely cool as hell.
