The Irish singer-songwriter blends jazz, soul, and R&B into a therapeutic anthem about self-improvement.
Carrie Baxter is the definition of an exceptional singer-songwriter. Hailing from Waterford, Ireland, and now based in London, she does a fantastic job of blending genres such as jazz, soul, and R&B in both modern and nostalgic ways. She also delivers strong lyrical content that carries depth and relatability.
Recently, Carrie released a new single called “Change.” In the track, she talks about the slow, timid process that comes with changing yourself for the better, which requires patience and not self-erasure. In other words, it means understanding your past trauma and working through it in a careful manner. Despite the track’s heavy topic, it still boasts a warm, welcoming vibe. Not only is the production infectious, offering a therapeutic feel mixed with a nice tempo and subtle pep, but Carrie also sings in a style that feels pleasant, hypnotic, self-assuring, and nurturing.
All in all, after giving this track a spin, I guarantee you’ll start feeling better about yourself, or your money back.
