Is Chief Keef the first Chicago rapper to work with NBA YoungBoy in the past four years?
When it’s all said and done, Mike WiLL Made-It will probably go down as one of the greatest hip-hop producers of this century. With the release of his upcoming project, that love for him is on full display. The album boasts features from heavy hitters like André 3000, J. Cole, Future, Pharrell, Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, and Quavo, a seriously stacked lineup.
Today, the first single has hit streaming services: “ROOMS” with Chief Keef and NBA YoungBoy.
“ROOMS” rides a triumphant beat with more bass than your speakers can handle. I played that s**t on some loudspeakers in my house, and the roaches started scattering. NBA YoungBoy kicks things off with a mix of singing and relentless, slightly slurred rapping that borders on incoherent. Chief Keef follows with a frenzied flow, blending singing and rap in a surprisingly solid delivery. Lyrically, the two trade bars about outshining competition, flaunting wealth, and moving like young bosses.
While the track bangs, it is a bit more laid-back than I expected. He must’ve handed out sedatives before they started recording.
