Some would say we are glazing with all these Drake articles, but bro, do you see the historical s**t he’s doing?
Drake continues adding to what has already become one of the most commercially dominant stretches of his career. His newest project, ICEMAN, has officially surpassed 500K total units sold in the United States, making the album eligible for RIAA Gold certification less than a week after release.
Since arriving, the project has managed to dominate conversations across nearly every corner of pop culture. Whether it’s discussions on hip-hop podcasts, reactions from restaurant chains online, or even mentions connected to political spaces like the White House, ICEMAN has become almost unavoidable. At this point, it honestly feels stranger to not have heard the album than to have an opinion on it.
Commercially, the project is still climbing. ICEMAN is currently projected to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, which would allow Drake to surpass Jay-Z for the most No. 1 albums among rappers. Meanwhile, “Janice STFU” is expected to debut atop the Billboard Hot 100, potentially pushing Drake past Michael Jackson for the most No. 1 songs in the chart’s history.
At this point, the numbers surrounding ICEMAN are becoming difficult to process in real time.
