A 33,000–38,000-unit projection puts Anderson .Paak and Cordae in contention for a top-10 debut.
Anderson .Paak and Cordae’s Heavy Is the Crown is heading toward a promising opening. HITS Daily Double projects 33,000–38,000 first-week album-equivalent units, putting the collaboration in contention for a top-10 debut.
For Cordae, that would mark his biggest opening yet. The Lost Boy previously led his catalog with approximately 25,000 units, while 2024’s The Crossroads opened around 10,000. Hopefully, this gives his career a nice boost and encourages more listeners to revisit his work.
Anderson has enjoyed bigger openings, including Ventura and An Evening with Silk Sonic, his collaboration with Bruno Mars. Still, this would represent an encouraging result for a partnership built around two artists trading bars and letting their personalities lead.
Personally, I think the album feels refreshing. The lyrics are down-to-earth, the production, courtesy of 9th Wonder, Conductor Williams, and J. Cole, is polished and diverse, and the rapping is top-notch.
I’m not surprised that listeners are showing interest. Their chemistry makes the album fun, and its quality gives you reasons to come back. Hopefully, the opening numbers translate into lasting momentum. A strong first week is encouraging; seeing this music keep finding people would be even better.
Anderson .Paak and Cordae’s 'Heavy Is the Crown' will be the #1 best selling rap album this week in the US.
