Anderson .Paak and Cordae’s “Heavy Is the Crown” Targets Strong First-Week Debut

A 30,000-unit opening puts Anderson .Paak and Cordae’s “Heavy Is the Crown” on track for a No. 10 debut.

Anderson .Paak and Cordae’s Heavy Is the Crown is expected to debut at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 with approximately 30,000 first-week album-equivalent units, according to HITS Daily Double. That’s slightly below the earlier 33,000–38,000 projection, but still an encouraging opening for the collaboration.

For Cordae, that would mark his biggest opening yet. The Lost Boy previously led his catalog with approximately 25,000 units, while 2024’s The Crossroads opened around 10,000. Hopefully, this gives his career a nice boost and encourages more listeners to revisit his work.

Anderson has enjoyed bigger openings, including Ventura and An Evening with Silk Sonic, his collaboration with Bruno Mars. Still, a top-10 debut would be a solid result for a partnership built around two artists trading bars and letting their personalities lead.

Personally, I think the album feels refreshing. The lyrics are down-to-earth, the production from names including 9th Wonder, Conductor Williams, and J. Cole is polished and diverse, and the rapping is top-notch.

Their chemistry makes the album fun, while the quality gives you reasons to return. Hopefully, this opening becomes the start of lasting momentum. These two sound like they enjoyed making the music, and I’d love to hear them run it back.
