Cordae, born Cordae Amari Dunston, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter known for his introspective lyrics and conscious approach to hip-hop. He gained attention as a member of the YBN collective, though he later dropped the “YBN” from his name to establish himself as a solo artist. Cordae first rose to prominence in 2018 with his response to J. Cole’s “1985” and quickly earned a reputation for blending old-school rap influences with modern sounds.

Cordae’s debut album, The Lost Boy (2019), received critical acclaim, earning him Grammy nominations for Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song. His ability to tell personal stories while addressing broader social issues has made him a standout in the rap scene. In 2022, Cordae released his second studio album, From a Bird’s Eye View, showcasing his growth as an artist. Known for his lyrical depth and collaborations with artists like Anderson .Paak and Roddy Ricch, Cordae is considered one of the most promising young voices in hip-hop.
