It’s not all the way random that YG Hootie was able to recruit Kendrick for this track, as both artists are from the city of Compton. On ‘The City’, both rappers praise their mecca, outlining how living there turned them into cold-blooded rappers.

I like when Kendrick raps like this! He’s chill not complicated, just speaking his piece in this very relatable way.
