Kali Uchis Ft. Tyler, The Creator & Bootsy Collins- After The Storm (Review & Stream)

https://youtu.be/RosviOqt77c

This is not the first time Kali Uchis and Tyler, The Creator get together to give us musical excellence, and hopefully not the last either!

Kali Uchis’ dreamy and transcendental signature sound sets her apart from the rest. Her ability to produce quality hits without compromising her style as an up and coming new artist earns her a spot in a lane of her own. The lyrics, instrumental and whole vibe on “After The Storm” are reassuring and enheartening like a warm hug.

The whole song is a metaphor. Although it may not feel like it during the “storm”, rainfall can be spiritually cleansing and it’s only after we weather the storm that the sun will shine and the flowers will bloom. The chorus sings, “the sun will come out, nothing good ever comes easy, I know times are rough, but winners don’t quit, so don’t you give up.”

After listening to “See You Again” off of Tyler, The Creator’s album Flower Boy a billion times, Tyler and Kali just sound right together. Their chemistry is palpable! And if Bootsy Collins’ voice sounds familiar, it’s because he went viral for his “oh no baby what is you doing?” video/meme/gif. His ad-libs and background singing sound like the intro to a Barry White song, and are perfect for the tenderness of this track.
