DJ Kay Slay Calls On Legends For “Hip Hop Frontline” (Review & Stream)

There’s an old head out there somewhere that’s saying “This is real hip-hop” over and over again while listening to this song…

DJ Kay Slay is prepping to release his new project soon, which is why fans got a chance to hear a few leaks from it these last couple of months. Today, one of the biggest hit the masses, and it features Raekwon, Cee-lo Green, Melly Mel and Grandmaster Caz (Anybody that has ‘Grandmaster’ in their rap alias stopped rapping seriously before 1982).

“Hip Hop Frontline” is not bad, but it’s also not interesting enough to catch my attention. It features this menacing instrumental that I can see serving as a theme song for Godzilla, a semi-annoying hook by Cee-lo, and a few terrorizing bars by some legendary MCs. If you are above 42 years old, you’re gonna love this s**t; if you are below it, you’ll probably end up taking a power nap listening to it. Welp, at least you’ll get some well-needed rest if you’re the latter.
