Glass Cases Put On A Dynamic Show On “Chemicals”

CHEMICALS

Glass Cases

OVERALL RATING (??????????)

“Chemicals” is easily the best song that I’ve heard this year.

I am a sucker for Glass Cases for the following reasons: I love the unique energy that they bring to the pop/synth-rock genre, I love Alex Van Keulen’s fearlessness as a singer, and I absolutely love their band name (Who doesn’t like glass cases?)! In the last year, the band has stepped so far outside of the box musically, I swear that I saw each member’s face on the back of a milk carton. On GC’s latest single, “Chemicals,” not only do they make me look like a genius, but they also find a way to channel every emotion a human being is capable of evoking.

“Chemicals” is such an entertaining rollercoaster ride. Throughout the song, Glass Cases do a fantastic job of blessing us with both sober and upbeat instrumentals; both joyous and numbing vocal performances; and both modern and old school pop/synth-rock vibes. The song’s icing on the cake is Alex’s powerful lyrics about overcoming the inner struggles and mental health issues that we are all susceptible to.

The music video to “Chemicals” captures the song’s purpose perfectly. When you are stuck in the middle of nowhere (Either literally or figuratively), you have to find a way to keep your spirits high (Either literally or figuratively).

“Chemicals” is a must-listen. The music video to the song is a must-see, too!
