Stewart Eastham Crafts The Perfect Horror Movie Theme Song With “The Calamus”

THE CALAMUS

Stewart Eastham

RGM RATING (??????????)

I’m not afraid to say that I listened to this song from under my bed.

Stewart Eastham is a singer/songwriter from Nashville, TN that has a knack for putting together music that is beyond stirring. In 2020, he released a quasi-concept album called The Great Silence that features a bunch of dark but catchy country tracks. For Stewart’s latest release, a soundtrack for the 2020 horror film Human No More, he creates a collection of tracks that might put a chill up your spine. One of the songs that you will hear on the soundtrack is “The Calamus.”

“The Calamus” is an instrumental that tells a story with its combination of sounds. The song starts off with gentle piano notes, initially giving listeners a feeling of tranquillity. As the song plays on, it gets darker and darker, as Stewart implements melodies into the fray that should invoke a splash of fear into you. Towards the end, Stewart finds a way to combine the two worlds together (Both the calm and terrifying worlds), adding in these science-fiction vibes in the process. Interestingly, “The Calamus” ends how it starts: gentle.

“The Calamus” is a gripping track that makes me want to watch a horror movie right now! Check out the full Human No More soundtrack HERE.
