ELKAE Absolutely Shines In The Acoustic Version Of “Distraction”

Distraction (Acoustic Version)

ELKAE

RGM RATING (??????????)

This might be the easiest five stars that I’ve ever dished out.

I’ve never met Laura Keane (aka ELKAE) a day in my life, but I love her! She is an electronic soul artist, songwriter, and producer that has a mesmerizing voice and a spirit that will slam dunk on weaker spirits. If you have time, I highly recommend that you listen to ELKAE’s latest EP Girls Like You Like Me. If you only have a few minutes to spare, I recommend that you give her “Distraction” single (The acoustic version) a shot.

In “Distraction,” ELKAE talks about dealing with a girl that is like a Philly Cheesesteak: Bad for her health. Below is how she describes the song in her own words:

I wrote Distraction when I’d come out of a long term relationship that was pretty safe and healthy overall but not what I was looking for in the end. I started talking to this girl, neither of us were looking for anything serious, but there was definitely moments of connection where real feelings were starting to show. The thing is I knew this wasn’t exactly safe, you know when you can just tell someone is trouble, but you can’t help yourself? It was like that.

So, what makes “Distraction” a gem? Well, personally, I love how ELKAE explains her sticky situation to us using intoxicating melodies, a diverse and passionate vocal performance, and lyrics that you can tell came directly from her heart. After you are done listening to the song, you might seek out a troubled relationship just because she makes hers sound so intriguing.

“Distraction” is far from a distraction (Who would’ve thunk it?).
