Listen To “Gangsta Grillz: We Set The Trends” By Jim Jones

Gangsta Grillz: We Set The Trends (Mixtape)

Jim Jones

Jim Jones and DJ Drama reunite for the stacked “Gangsta Grillz: “We Set The Trends.”

I was a major Dipset fan back in the day. While I loved me some Cam’ron, Juelz Santana, and even JR Writer, I never really paid much attention to Jim Jones. Never in a million years did I think that Jim would be the rapper out of that group that would still be ticking today. Today, Jim decided to release Gangsta Grillz: We Set The Trends, a 25-track project that features a lot of random rappers and a myriad of rap styles.

We Set The Trends feels more like a DJ Khaled-type album than an actual solo Jim Jones mixtape. Nearly every song on the project features someone, and in most of the songs, Jim actually plays the back. I feel like he has always been a great curator, so the collaborations sound natural and well put together. At the end of the day, I do think that you have to love underground rap to really enjoy this project.

This project features the following people: Icewear Vezzo, Dave East, Fivio Foreign, Ditta, Migos, Rah Swish, Fwoppy, Jovohn, Dusty Locane, Onpointlikeop, Nuff Said, Lyrivelli, Mack 11, Connie Diamond, Maino, Fabolous, Ball Greezy, Dyce Payso, Keen Streetz, Doe Boy, Pap Chanel, Yellowtapee, VL Deck, Salah Babyy, Fat Flee, Giggs, Trigga, Shoota93, Lil Cody, and Sob Kamn.
