RGM RATING (????????)

We should all go through a dopamine break.

Trippy J is a talented rapper with a fire in his belly that is easy to see. His songs are usually engaging and feature raps that are pretty powerful. With that being said, “Jaywalk,” one of his latest singles, might be his most powerful song to date.

I don’t think Trippy J meant to make the song sound powerful either, it seems like s**t just happened that way. Over a beat that sounds entertainingly quirky, Trippy hits us with impactful bars that highlight all of the things that he learned while he was locked up in a room for five days because of a dopamine detox. What I love is that he pieces his words together in a way that makes it sound like he was able to find peace, while also getting very descriptive about the several things that he learned in his 120 hours away from normal. As someone who is a strong advocate for good mental health, this song is the right prescription for me.
