Vince Staples Taps Mustard For “Magic”

Magic

Vince Staples

RGM RATING (????????)

Vince Staples and Mustard is a one-two punch that is deadly.

I made a huge mistake in my end-of-the-year post. Vince Staples’ self-titled album from last year should’ve won the most slept on project. In my opinion, Vince and Kenny Beats were in a pocket on that album that was amazing. Today, Vince decided to drop “Magic,” a brand new track that is produced by yet another amazing beatmaker in Mustard.

Mustard brings out the Tyga in Vince Staples in “Magic.” Over a beat that sounds too chill for its own good, the California rapper hits us with smooth bars that indicate that he’s currently high, rich, an anti-snitch, and a playa all at the same time. Though the song sounds somewhat sluggish, I think it’s good enough to extend Vince’s winning streak.

As I think about it, I don’t think I’ve ever heard a Vince Staples song in the club. Damn, DJs are trippin’!
