blackwave. is a Belgium-based hip-hop duo made up of rapper Jay Atohuon and singer/producer William Ardui. They started making music together in 2016 even before they met in person. Their debut EP, “Mic Check,” earned them major attention in Belgium and The Netherlands. In 2018, blackwave. started playing at festivals, doing international tours, and getting their music played on the radio. Ardui and Atohuon set themselves apart by meshing soul, jazz, funk, and pop elements with hip-hop elements. Despite its upbeat energy, “Good Day” is about being numb and going through the motions of life. blackwave. created a song to talk about a complex subject, but preserved the listening experience by using elements that brightened the background.
