You know I like being honest with y’all, right? Well, here I go: Lil Tjay’s last couple of releases have not been good. In my opinion, he sings a little too much for my liking on them. With that being said, “Goin’ Up,” his latest release, is fantastic.
Well, obviously I mean for Tjay’s standards. What I like about “Goin’ Up” is that it features this military-like sound that I actually thing he usually excels with. I also like that he doesn’t try to be the next great popstar on the song; instead, he hits us with gritty raps and dark melodies that help highlight his wins and his opps’ losses. All in all, “Goin’ Up” is easily Tjay’s best release of 2022.
This is the kind of Tjay that I prefer (Can I get an “amen?”).
