Taly Says Put Your “Mask On”

Mask On

Taly

A pop tune with nostalgic elements and a double meaning.

Israel-based musician, Taly, is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter who has plenty of generational influence to offer. Her work contains a mix of existential awareness and personal experience that many listeners can relate to. Maybe that’s what classifies her as a young, uplifting figure in pop music today. Taly enjoys an aesthetic appearance with dueling messages, and her music reflects the same sentiments. Whether dealing with her previous release, the 2020 single, “off 19,” or her newest drop, she maintains a unique and modern ideal. Taly’s work is available on Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Music. Her latest drop is the pop single “Mask On.” Additionally, the song features an accompanying lyric video.

We may call this something akin to an early 2000s pop song, but “Mask On” also claims an old-school 90s tone. Clearly, it’s based on nostalgia, which may be a creative dig on Taly’s part, since both of her songs can be related to COVID. Lyrics like “so put your mask on, keep your thoughts in bed and lock your tears in steel” and “wear a smiley face, because you know sometimes, fake is much better than real” reflect on hiding your true emotions behind a mask. Even if it isn’t related to the pandemic, this is a message that almost anyone can understand the meaning behind. There are obviously some heavy burdens behind every face we see, and every person could be putting up a very convincing mask. The message is clear: We all can be two-faced. So stream Taly’s “Mask On” and see if it puts a smile on your face.
