Strangers
Danger Mouse & Black Thought (Ft. A$AP Rocky & Run The Jewels)
They don’t make posse cuts like this anymore.
This Friday, one of the albums that will grace the world is Danger Mouse and Black Thought’s Cheat Code. To get us excited for the project, the duo decided to release an explosive single off it called “Strangers.”
“Strangers” is such a mean-ass track. In it, over a Shaft-Esque beat, you get a verse by Black Thought in which he solidifies his wizardry/gritty make-up, a verse by A$AP Rocky in which he solidifies his cool demeanor and love for Dr. Seuss books, and verses by Run The Jewels in which they solidify their competitive natures. The way each rapper tries to eviscerate the beat is stunning to listen to.
Who won “Strangers?” I say A$AP.
Quincy is the creator of Ratings Game Music. He loves writing about music, taking long walks on beaches, and spaghetti that fights him back.
