Gimme

Sam Smith (Ft. Jessie Reyez & Koffee)

This might be one of Sam Smith’s merriest tracks of all time.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Sam Smith has one of the best voices I’ve ever heard. Since it’s strong, he usually uses it to make powerful, soulful records. Today, Sam decided to switch things up by releasing “Gimme,” a track that is actually pretty upbeat.

In “Gimmie,” Jessie Reyez puts up a Rihanna-like performance, Sam Smith puts up an Ed Sheeran-like performance, and Koffee puts up a Koffee-like performance. What I think listeners will love about the song is that it features a hook that straddles the line between catchy and repetitive and a vocal performance by Sam that straddles the line between passionate and slick. I think listeners will also like the Reggae flavor that Koffee adds to the equation. All in all, the Caribbean-inspired “Gimme” will make it feel like summer in January.

Give “Gimme” a shot below.
