HEROES

Macklemore (Ft. DJ Premier)

Macklemore is such a confusing individual (Did I just say that out loud?).

Maybe, 2023 will end up being a big year for Macklemore. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I feel like he hasn’t been the same since he snatched Kendrick Lamar’s Grammy. With that being said, I am a fan of Mack and hope that he gets his second chance to shine. This year, the Seattle rapper will release a brand new album called Ben. The first single off the project is “HEROES” with DJ Premier.

In “HEROES,” Macklemore raps about all of the bandos, the toxic individuals, and the old-school music that inspired him in the past. Though I rock with the slick flows and aggressive deliveries that he hits us with, I’m not going to lie, it sounds like he’s trying just a little too hard in the song. Nonetheless, if you call yourself a true hip-hop fan, you have to love the booming DJ Premier beat (And all of its old-school samples) and Mack’s appreciation for it.
