Some Distant Memory Releases “Just A Story”

Some Distant Memory

“Just A Story” is the latest project from Some Distant Memory.

Some Distant Memory is a band that hails from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. They specialize in creating sounds you might hear in video games, cartoons, or your wildest dreams. Some of Some Distant Memory’s biggest releases are “In the Way,” “Institution For Bleeding Hearts,” and “Perceptual Foothold.” You can find their whole catalog on Spotify and Apple Music. The latest release from the band, who are “affiliated with Nors and on the Nors Updates video channel that includes fictional animated bandmates such as the mascot Nora and versions of a character created for the Sunrise Syndrome Music video,” is “Just A Story.”

To call what we hear in “Just A Story” beautifully unorthodox would be an understatement. The song has a jerky tempo, all kinds of sound effects, and an overall vibe that is hauntingly salacious. In one sense, I hear a faltering Nintendo video game that might need a blow, while in another sense, I hear a lost child trying to navigate through a futuristic world full of pieces that don’t quite fit with one another. Whichever way you slice it, “Just A Story” is a project that will give your mind quite the workout.
