Fivio Foreign’s last couple of releases haven’t quite hit the mark for me…
I am very high on Fivio Foreign. Right after Pop Smoke’s untimely death, I thought he would be the one who took Drill music to another level. While I do believe Fivio shined in his 2022 album B.I.B.L.E., since its release, I feel like he has been on a bit of a downward spiral. That said, I hope his latest single, “Why Would I?,” puts him back on track.
In “Why Would I?,” Fivio Foreign talks about his major come-up, stiff-arming opps, and pulling more cards than a Blackjack dealer. Something that stands out to me about the song, which features this dark-ass drill beat that I can see a hood Batman riding out to, is how Fivio plows through it sounding vexed and like the ultimate underdog. He must’ve read the first paragraph of this post…
