King Camil decided to remake one of my favorite tracks of all time.
Arguably, Twitsta’s greatest track ever is “Overnight Celebrity” (“Slow Jamz” might be saying “Hold my beer”). The 2004 track, which was produced by Kanye West, got as high as #6 on Billboard’s Hot 100 list and sparked an official remix that features Cam’ron and Bumpy Johnson. Recently, rapper King Camil decided to make a sequel to the track that features a verse from Twista.
This version of “Overnight Celebrity” isn’t as charming as the original version. In “Overnight Celebrity Pt. 2,” King Camil and Twista bring out their competitive sides, speaking on their superior rap skills, unflappable mentalities, and quick tempers. They also flaunt their Midwest ways, which is dope because Camil kind of sounds like Twista’s successor.
Also, this version of “Overnight Celebrity” isn’t quite as soulful as the original version. In “Overnight Celebrity Pt. 2,” King Camil and Twista do damage, showcasing rapid-fire, intricate flows and clever punchlines. hey do so over production that is designed to thump and make car speakers rattle. To make a long story short, s**t ain’t sweet in this sequel.
