Lil Wayne & 2 Chainz Release “Long Story Short”

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz’s “Collegrove 2” is set to release next week.

Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz are smart. Instead of releasing Collegrove 2 today, amid everybody and their mama releasing an album, they opted for a release date for next week when the field doesn’t expect to be as crowded. Today, a new single from their forthcoming project, “Long Story Short,” hit streaming services.

In “Long Story Short,” Lil Wayne drops laid-back bars that highlight his fast life that seems to be negatively and positively affecting his chick. He also chooses violence over and over again, even bringing up that he loves his gun so much that he bought it a wedding ring (That’s f**king sick). As for 2 Chainz, his verse exudes the persona of the ultimate playa who casually makes hits and indulges in illegal substances. What’s cool about the track, which features one of the most soulful beats you would hear today, is how the two rappers start their verses with simple flows but eventually graduate to these tongue-twisting flows that turn the song’s pace upside down.

I’m calling it now: Collegrove 2 will be better than Collegrove 1.
