This is as close to prime Ye as it’s going to get in 2023.

Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign will drop their new collaboration album any day now. When I say “any day now,” I mean that s**t in every single way because Kanye should never be trusted regarding release dates. The good news is that we’ve received a couple of singles from the Chicago native in the past few days. Last week, we got to hear him go back and forth with Ty Dolla $ign and Bump J in “Vultures.” Today, Ye returned to the music scene with a new solo release called “Dear Summer.”

This is the Kanye that I deserve and appreciate. “Dear Summer” is a beautifully crafted rap track that features a soulful sample that I absolutely love, simplistic production that actually does a great job at pulling at heartstrings, and a tempo that will have you nodding your head consistently. To start the track off, Kanye hits us with blunt, straightforward raps (not no poopity scoopity raps), highlighting the bad streak he and his ex have been on. While I’m a massive fan of what Kanye was able to do here rapping-wise, I’m sure it’s the names he calls out towards the end of the song that will catch everyone’s attention on your beloved X (he tells his girl to listen to Lil Baby, Drake, Future, and MoneyBagg Yo instead if she isn’t feeling his music). I hate y’all Xers!

Give me 15 tracks with this version of Kanye on his next album.
