Pharrell Drops “Airplane Tickets” With Swae Lee & Rauw Alejandro

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Negroes ain’t flying domestically either…

If it weren’t for Pharrell (and about ten other artists), I probably wouldn’t be as big of a music fan as I am today. His past beats and songs played a crucial role in making me fall in love with hip-hop and R&B, so I will always hold him in high regard. Although he has slowed down a bit in terms of production and releasing songs, he still occasionally treats us to some new material. On Friday, Pharrell dropped a new single with Swae Lee and Rauw Alejandro titled “Airplane Tickets.”

Do you want to hear something that will irk you? I’m crafting this review from one of the finest pools ever while on vacation. I’ve earned this break, though. What I just mentioned is relevant because this song exudes tropical vibes. Set against a lively, colorful beat that still incorporates elements of your typical The Neptunes sound, Rauw Alejandro and Swae Lee croon about having a great time with someone willing to embark on a journey with them. While the two singers undoubtedly shine on the track, I just can’t stand that Pharrell’s vocals aren’t featured on this song.

Someone pass me a Mojito.
