Lil Yachty Shows Versatility in “Child Boy” Freestyle

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

This feels like Yachty rapping just because he woke up and felt like it.

Lil Yachty continues to move like an artist who genuinely enjoys rapping. Whether it’s a full project or a YouTube-exclusive freestyle, he keeps feeding fans consistently. His latest drop, “Child Boy,” is another example of that carefree yet calculated approach as he continues to build momentum outside traditional releases.

“Child Boy” thrives on contrast. The first half brings a colorful, soulful vibe with smooth textures and a laid-back bounce that feels almost effortless. Then the beat flips. The second half gets grittier, adding sharper drums, beaming synths, and a more aggressive tone while still holding onto its soulful core.

Lyrically, Yachty leans into his usual flex-heavy bag, touching on weapons, women, and flashy jewelry. It’s nothing new conceptually, but it’s the delivery that keeps it engaging. His signature cool, almost detached tone glides across both halves of the track with ease.

He also shows versatility, switching flows and even tapping into melodic territory toward the end. All in all, “Child Boy” doesn’t try to be deep; it just reinforces Yachty’s natural charisma and reminds listeners how easily he controls a vibe.
