It’s starting to look more and more like a gritty Christmas.
I don’t know about you, but Christmas music definitely annoys me. Don’t get me wrong – they are usually cozy and all, but I feel like I’ve heard them so much throughout my years that I just don’t need to hear most of them anymore. The good news is this: A bunch of hip-hop artists have been remixing Christmas songs, putting their own gritty spin on them. The latest to do that is Lil Tjay and Fivio Foreign.
Lil Tjay and Fivio Foreign have been linking up for years, creating some of the most hardcore drill bangers on the planet. For “Last Christmas,” a track that flips the classic 1984 holiday song with the same name, they still bring the grit, but they make sure most of the vibes we hear are of the Christmas spirit.
In “Last Christmas,” instead of being on some lovey-dovey s**t, both Lil Tjay and Fivio Foregn brag about being hardcore players who steal women and flip them like drug money. They also talk about their major come-ups and making money. In my opinion, there isn’t anything super special about their verses, but I do really mess with the Chipmunk-afield version of the original song’s classic hook.
I’m convinced that you can give a drill twist to any song, and it would instantly become a hit. Don’t be surprised if someone decides to drillify the Nutcracker song.
