2024 will be Playboi Carti’s to lose. In just a few days, he will drop his new album, I Am Music. I’m pretty sure it will drop the internet for a few hours.

One thing that I really appreciate about Playboi Carti is that he’s building anticipation for his project by releasing a variety of random singles. Last month, he treated us to “UR THE MOON,” “H00DBYAIR,” and “2024.” To kick off January, he’s unleashed a new single titled “BACKR00MS,” featuring none other than Travis Scott!

Out of all of Playboi Carti’s recent releases, “BACKR00MS” stands out as my favorite. First off, I find the dark, slick trap beat that propels the song to be fire. Although I wouldn’t say I love Playboi’s lyrics (his raps are super random), the voice he uses (you know, the one that makes it sound like he’s on the verge of throwing up) is tolerable. As for Travis Scott, I really appreciate his verse. It’s normal, has a great cadence, and will definitely remind you that he’s a cool-ass dude. If we get a few more tracks like this on Playboi’s next album, I might just buy the vinyl of it.

I’m actually liking how Playboi Carti is rolling out this album.
