Rich Brian & Rick Ross Unite For “LiGhT rAiLs”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Here’s a quick conspiracy theory that has been running through my mind lately: Rich Brian initially entered the music scene as a rap jokester, but upon recognizing his genuine talent for rapping, he made the conscious decision to take his craft seriously. This shift is evident in his recent releases, showcasing remarkably impressive bars.

The unfortunate aspect of Rich Brian’s music career is his infrequent releases. In the past year, he only shared two songs: “Sundance Freestyle” and “WORLD STOP TURNING.” Perhaps 2024 will bring a change to this pattern. Today, he returned to the music scene with a new single titled “LiGhT rAiLs,” featuring Rick Ross.

Officially, this track belongs to 1999 WRITE THE FUTURE, but you catch my drift. In “LiGhT rAiLs,” Rick Ross and Rich Brian trade verses about their playboy lifestyles, opulent living, competitive spirits, and even their skill at sinking free throws. The track maintains a raw vibe, foregoing a traditional hook. Instead, it showcases flashy and gritty rap styles, complemented by a beat that knocks harder than Richard Sherman (no offense intended; his incident was over two years ago).

Rich Brian could save hip-hop; I just feel like he doesn’t care to, which is super unfortunate.
