Nicki Minaj & Future Reunite For “Press Play”

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.

Nicki Minaj has been generous to her Barbz. Since dropping Pink Friday 2 in December, she has released two deluxe versions of the album. Before anyone assumes she’s trying to inflate the numbers, it’s worth noting that she has consistently released deluxe versions for nearly every album in her discography.

One notable aspect of Pink Friday 2 is the star-studded lineup of features on the album, including artists like Drake, Lil Wayne, J. Cole, Lil Uzi Vert, and Future. It seems Nicki appreciated Future’s contributions, as she decided to include him in this deluxe version of the album on a track titled “Press Play.”

There are two stars of this song: ATL Jacob and Future. The former cooks up a beat that has some dope trap elements, a nice tempo, and these video game-like sounds that I absolutely love. As for the latter, he puts up a hook that is catchy as hell and entertainingly toxic. While Nicki Minaj’s verses aren’t bad (they straddle the line between playful and trill), I just feel like it sounds like she was cruising a little too much on it. All in all, I wouldn’t say this is a song that you HAVE to listen to. It’s just there.

Give “Press Play” a shot below.

She walked on the song. Nicki Hendrix just too goated.
